Common mistakes in English

Stories, a must, a trust
Useful language
People keep on finding so many ways to come across the meaning of a simple word (by replacing it with metaphors); generally speaking we're trying so hard to define our own style, our own signature and way of being in writing that sometimes books compete with the best 3D computer games ever invented.
If you ever watched "Sex and the City" you would know exactly what I mean regarding Carrie's way of writing (the beginning and the ending of each episode). As we opened the discussion, one of my favorites is "King's Speech". The movie always reminds me about the oldest speech that I can remember.
So as you can see written in this article, I can't help but wonder how much languages change with or without our need, help or thought.

Superstitii englezesti

"Christmas" o serbare populara, in care copiii devin tiranii zilei.

- se spunea ca daca un liliac iti zbura in interiorul casei in noaptea de Halloween era semn ca in casa erau spirite si fantome; daca liliacul zbura pe langa casa jucaus, va fi vreme buna
(Sursa: http://www.robbybubble.ro/articles/sarbatoarea-de-halloween-superstitii.php)

What cartoons can I let my kid watch & how can I learn English from watching tv
As we're watching tv, cable, satelite, cds our memory functions the same way when learning. Even if we define our own style, we put our own signature on the writing or speaking, sometimes those "ways" tend to get a bit out of the "margins". Of course it's impossible to know all the words and rules from a language but speakers must realise that readers, listeners will memorize and interpretate the chosen style. I saw many movies using made up expressions or dialogs using unusual words.
The idea of the steps of a changing language does not include bogus "atittude" or missleading words. English is hard enough not to mention complicated and ilogical, so to learn something or master it we have to avoid the mess created by others.
A weird meaning of the word "slang" is taking as freaky as possibly can... Slang means something different, please search in dictionaries. The idea of talking crazy does not establish a "slang" and under no circumstances will form it.
As everything happen for a reason, every word comes alive for a need. A piece of advice in watching a movie or a cartoon, first choose what you want to learn and what level you are used to and then choose what you want to see in that area. Simple words are always to be found, it is the slang, the expressions that make the difference. Practice makes perfect as they say, so learn, exercise than watch movies. I don't really agree with learning English from (american) movies; teachers were not created for intimidating but for correcting and helping you build a healthy way of expressing what you feel inside.

Some English Proverbs (the page itself that is to be found by clicking on British Proverbs will also present some of the common expressions used)
There's always something good in bad times.
Act early and you can save a lot of time.
You have to try or you won't get anything.
From one problem to another.
People often don't like the same things.
Don't question good luck.
You can give a person a chance, but you can't make him or her take it.
You always think that other peoples lives are better than yours.
We don't have to pay for the things that are really valuable, like love, friendship, good health etc.
Don't worry about problems before they arrive.
There is a limit to everything. We can load the camel with lots of straw, but finally it will be too much and the camel's back will break. And it is only a single straw that breaks its back - the last straw.
If we have the determination to do something, we can always find the path or method to do it.
If we get married quickly, without thinking carefully, we may be sorry later. And we will have plenty of time to be sorry.
If we have a problem, we may find the answer after a good night's sleep.
We need to read a book to know if it's good or bad. We cannot know what it's like just by looking at the front or back cover. This proverb is applied to everything, not only books.
'Bad news' means news about 'bad' things like accidents, death, illness etc. People tend to tell this type of news quickly. But 'good news' (passing an exam, winning some money, getting a job etc) travels more slowly.
Birds of a feather means birds of the same type. The whole proverb means that people of the same type or sort stay together. They don't mix with people of another type
This proverb suggest that we should not interfere in other people's business. We should live our own lives and let others live their lives.
Many women have won a man's love by cooking delicious meals for him. They fed his stomach and found love in his heart.
This proverb drops the verb "to be". But we understand: "It is better not to be taught at all than to be taught badly." It's better not to learn something than to learn it badly.
Something that is easy to learn is easy to forget.
